John Coomber

The members of the Parish Council were saddened to hear of the recent death of John Coomber, a member of the Parish Council from 1982 until 2011.

John spent most of his ninety years in Weald and was a well known and much loved personality whose popularity was shown in him, on most occasions, topping the polls in the contested elections to the Parish Council.

In his younger days John was an active and enthusiastic sportman.  Throughout his life he was an avid walker and photographer who knew every route and path in the district probably better than anyone else and he enjoyed giving illustrated talks about his walks.

John and his brother, Bernard, were also often busy helping out with jobs for the benefit of the village that meant so much to both of them

John will be greatly missed by the many friends he made and kept over the years.

John Caird

Clerk
